The article comes on the heels of an exciting lecture that evening at the Swedish Institute at Athens by Aleydis van de Moortel, director of the project at Mitrou, Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee, and current NEH fellow at the ASCSA, in which she discussed the dark stain left by the bottom of the hull of the boat. While I was not present during the excavation of the boat stain itself (that photograph is by Kostas Xenikakis and Simon Gesafidis), I was very fortunate to be a part of the Mitrou team this past summer, helping to photograph objects that are being prepared for publication.
On Friday, November 22, 2013, a photograph that I took this past summer was published in the Greek newspaper "TA NEA." The article is about evidence for the Middle Bronze Age boat found at Mitrou. On TA NEA's webpage, the article includes a photograph that I took of the site from the east, showing a full view of the islet and its surrounding landscape. It was also included in the print version of the newspaper (below).
